A three-car trailer brake Met-Camm DMU is seen in Thornton Junction station on 1 October 1969, just a few days before closure. Closest with Leven on the destination blind is DMC SC50158, at the time allocated to Dundee. The vehicle would spend the first 32 of its 35 year career on the Scottish Region. Dundee only had one TBSL at the time - SC59074. Transferred to the Scottish Region in 1966 where it remained - other than a brief spell at Chester - until withdrawal in 1991. A three-car Class 101 DMU at the closed Thornton Junction station in March 1972. Closed on 6 October 1969, two and a half years later not much had changed except for the weeds of course. If you look closely you can see that the footbridge no longer has any steps. 13 year old boys can sometimes be very foolish! But at least I took my camera with me! Alistair Ness.
